More About ROS
Reactive Oxygen Species
Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are chemically reactive molecules containing oxygen, which empower the cleansing power of airPHX | HEALTH. These molecules are highly reactive due to the presence of unpaired valence shell electrons. The effects of ROS on cell metabolism have been well documented in a variety of species, including molds, viruses and bacteria. ROS is 100% organic and harmless to humans.
Types of Reactive Oxygen Species
-
Atomic Oxygen (O1)
-
Superoxide (O2)
-
Singlet (1O2), atomic O2, OH radical
-
Peroxynitrite (ONOO-) - at physiol. pH
-
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)
-
Ozone (O3) / Tri-atomic oxygen
Example: Bacteria and ROS
Bacteria are microscopic single-cell creatures with a primitive structure. ROS interferes with the metabolism of bacteria cells by inhibiting the operation of the enzymatic control system. Various ROS types break through the cell membrane, leading to the destruction of the bacteria.

Reactivity of ROS
The reactivity of these species varies substantially from one to another. It is difficult to order them in terms of how strong an oxidant they are because they also react with different types of molecules. Some react only to specific molecules while others are less discriminatory and oxidize all pathogen types. airPHX technology can be calibrated to customize treatment to each unique business situation.
Bio-Security with ROS
The production of ROS is continuous with airPHX technology, and draws the same power as a 75-W light bulb. The various types of ROS interact with ambient air, and once released, continue the reaction outside of the unit. This empowers the unique and patented oxidizing capabilities of airPHX | HEALTH.
